BILATERAL RELATIONS
Brief historical information
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine were established on January 31, 1992. Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan was established in 1996, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine was opened in 1997.
The basis of the relations between our countries is laid by treaty between Azerbaijan and Ukraine on friendship, cooperation and partnership signed on March 16, 2000 and the Declaration between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine on strategic partnership and friendship signed on May 22, 2008.
Relations in the political, economic, scientific, educational, cultural and other spheres between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are developing, the two countries are strategic partners. Inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation in the field of law are strengthening.
Azerbaijan and Ukraine hold consultations within the UN, Council of Europe, BSEC, GUAM, CIS and other international and regional organizations and traditionally support of each other. At the same time, two countries cooperate in the fight against terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking and other dangerous crimes.

Inter-parliamentary relations
A friendship group of inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine was established in 1995. Chairman of the friendship group of inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic is Kamran Bayramov. Co-charimen of the friendship gorup from the ukrainian side are Valeriy Kolyukh and Volodymyr Kreydenko.
Economic cooperation
Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukrainewas established July 17, 1993. Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Irina Vereshchuk are the chairmen of the commission. Twelwe meetings of the commission held so far. The last meeting was held on January 31, 2020 in Kyiv.
Ukraine remains one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan. In 2021 total trade with Ukraine amounted up to 1 billion US dollars, while exceeded 580 million dollars during eleven months of 2022 and declined to 285 million dollars in ten months of 2023.
