Lachin city of Azerbaijan and Irpin city of Ukraine signed Memorandum on establishment of twinning relations
The delegation of Ukraine visited the city of Lachin.
AZERTAC's regional correspondent reports that the purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum on the twinning of the cities of Lachin of Azerbaijan and Irpin of Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by the delegations headed by the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Masim Mammadov and the mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushin .
According to the memorandum signed by Masim Mammadov and Oleksandr Markushin the sides will cooperate on the exchange of information and experience in the fields of historical and cultural heritage protection, urban planning, environmental protection, landscaping, public transport, information technology, energy efficiency, waste management, youth and sports.
Later, the Ukrainian delegation was acquaintanted with the city of Lachin. The guests visited the library, Lachin city comprehensive secondary school No. 2, "Hochazfilm" film shooting pavilion, "Gilabi" creative center and Sus village kindergarten.
Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushin said in his statement: "Today is a special day. We are officially strengthening our existing friendly relations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Today we open a new page in the development of our relations. Cultural exchanges, improving the health of our children, economic initiatives, etc. are ahead. there will be many joint projects like We will learn from each other and contribute to the future exchange of experience, including the establishment of joint effective work for communities."
He also noted that the support of the Azerbaijani people is invaluable for Ukraine: "We will always be grateful for Azerbaijan's position and brotherly help."
Markushin reminded that according to the special order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Government of Azerbaijan together with SOCAR restored the important buildings of Irpin, especially humanitarian lyceum "Linguist" named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, and the city clinic in a short period of time.
Masim Mammadov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who stated that today's meeting is of great importance, said: "Today, a memorandum on fraternal relations between the cities of Lachin and Irpin was signed. The memorandum is designed to get acquainted with the history, culture and life of our cities, as well as to create friendly relations. These relations will contribute to the development of relations not only at the international level, but also in the economic, cultural, tourism and educational fields between the communities of the cities. In the framework of the implementation of intercity relations, it is planned to visit sports and artistic teams of the delegations, and to display photo exhibitions reflecting the life of the cities. There will also be an exchange of ideas in the field of urban management practice. The city of Irpin is located 5 kilometers from the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, and has a population of 100,000. The mayor said that more than 3,000 of the population of 100,000 are members of the Azerbaijani community. Of course, the role of our community in the development of fraternal relations will be of exceptional importance in the future."
Noting that the city of Lachin has been reconstructed on the basis of the Great Return program, Masim Mammadov added: "Restoration works are being carried out rapidly in Lachin. Here, perspectives are studied during the resettlement of the population and the construction of cities. At the same time, it is very important to raise awareness at the international level for the recognition of Lachin and other territories freed from occupation, and for the promotion of the work done there. We will implement it consistently."
