A tree planting initiative was carried out in Kyiv on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev

On May 10, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, solemnly celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the architect and founder of modern independent Azerbaijan, the brilliant son and National Leader of the Azerbaijani people.

Before the event, the heads and staffs of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ukraine, the Organization for Democracy and Economic Cooperation - GUAM, the Representative Office of the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF in Ukraine, SOCAR Energy Ukraine and the Honorary Consulate of Azerbaijan in Kharkiv, diaspora activists and compatriots visited the monument to the Great Leader in the Heydar Aliyev Park in Kyiv and honored his memory.

Then another tree planting event was held in Kyiv on the Azerbaijan-Ukraine Friendship Alley, which was built a few months ago. The tree planting event, jointly organized by the embassy and the public organization “United Diaspora of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine”, was preceded by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque dedicated to the friendship between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev noted that the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev is the founder of friendly Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations and the architect of modern Azerbaijan. “Today, Azerbaijan, which is dynamically developing on the basis of Heydar Aliyev’s ideas, and whose power and international influence are growing, is conquering new heights. Thanks to the far-sighted policy, thoughtful reforms and wise decisions of President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy successor of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, a new stage in Azerbaijan’s development started,” said the ambassador. S.Mardaliyev stressed that Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity, has become a powerful state that contributes to regional security and peace, and is the initiator and implementer of global projects.

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Serhiy Vlasenko expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for its support. “I would like to thank the Azerbaijani state and the embassy for the attention shown to the development of the national park in Kyiv. The Azerbaijani state also demonstrated its attention to the environment at the COP29 conference. Azerbaijan implements precious projects for environmental development in Kyiv. This newly built park is a wonderful gift for Kyiv residents. People will go in for sports here. After some time, we will see flowering trees, feel the further improvement of the environmental situation. We will see the joy of children playing here with their parents. This action is a great start, we just need to support such actions,” he noted.

It should be noted that the first tree planting event took place in December last year on an alley built on the right bank of the Dnieper River in Kyiv.
