Shusha City Day and Victory Day celebrated in Kyiv

An event dedicated to the role of the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, Shusha, and role of the prominent residents of Shusha in the development of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations took place in the library named after Samed Vurgun in Kyiv.

As AZERTAC reports, the Ukrainian-Turkic center organized an event for the Day of the city of Shusha and Victory Day of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, Member of Ukrainian Parliament, co-founder of the Ukrainian-Turkic Center Serhii Nagornyak spoke about the importance of Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the liberation of the territories from the occupiers.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliev spoke in detail about the importance of the city of Shusha for the Azerbaijani people, the ancient history of this city, as well as its culture, which is the source of its glory.

Oleg Kupchyk, a famous Ukrainian historian, researcher of the history of Azerbaijan, spoke about the outstanding residents of Shusha, who played an important role in the development of relations between our countries - the first diplomatic representative of Azerbaijan in Ukraine Jalil Sadikhov and the first ambassador of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic to Ukraine Yusif Vazir Chamanzaminli. According to him, there was information about Karabakh and Shusha in Ukraine at the beginning of the last century, because at that time hundreds of Azerbaijani students were studying in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and other cities.

In the artistic part of the event, the well-known musician, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine, member of the “Khoreya Kozatska” band Maksym Berezhniuk performed the melody "Sen Helmez Oldun" on the Azerbaijani instrument balabaan, the song "Galadan Galaya" on the musical instrument "Ney" and the song " Durna" on a Ukrainian musical instrument. Bandura player Maryna Vishnevska performed the music of the songs "Yellow Bride" and "Nocturne" by Fikret Amirov on the Ukrainian folk musical instrument bandura.

The moderator of the event, Maryna Honcharuk, curator of Ukrainian-Turkic projects, spoke in detail about the role of the city of Shusha in the development of culture and art, as well as the contribution of prominent Shusha residents to the development of society.

The participants of the event were told about the role of the vizier of the Karabakh Khanate, the outstanding poet Molla Panakh Vagif, in the history and culture of Azerbaijan. Anna Vityaz, a student of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, and Roman Popov, a young activist, presented poems by Molla Panakh Vagif translated into Ukrainian, and Emil Musayev, a representative of Azerbaijani youth, presented the original version in Azerbaijani.

Then the participants of the event were shown a video clip about the "Kharibulbyul" festival, which took place in Shusha and was attended by representatives of Ukraine.

Larisa Komarova, director of the library named after Samed Vurgun in Kyiv, spoke about the role of her cultural institution in the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani dialogue and invited for future cooperation in holding new events. A literary exhibition about Shusha was also organized for the guests.

The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine Idris Kadyrkulov, Charge d'Affaires of Kazakhstan in Ukraine Aslan Alibekov, diplomats, scientists, poets, students of Kyiv universities.
