A reception on the occasion of Azerbaijan's Independence Day held in Kyiv

A reception was held in the capital of Ukraine on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day of Azerbaijan.

Event organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv started with the National Anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, AZERTAC reports.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev noted that 106 years ago, on May 28, 1918, the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) - the first parliamentary republic in the entire Muslim East was proclaimed - and the Declaration of Independence of Azerbaijan was adopted.

“Despite serious internal and external challenges, the ADR managed to create effective state institutions, protect the rights of its citizens and win the trust of the international community. Although the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic ceased to exist after the Bolshevik invasion in April 1920, Azerbaijan regained its independence in 1991. The tricolor flag, national anthem and coat of arms of Azerbaijan reflect the heritage of the ADR. Today, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, our country is realizing the aspirations and ideals of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Azerbaijan is experiencing the most ambitious and successful period in its ancient history and has never been as strong as it is now,” the ambassador said.

Seymur Mardaliyev noted that Azerbaijan has been providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine since the first days of the war in this country and is ready to continue to provide this assistance.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevgeniy Perebiynis said that a number of bilateral agreements have been signed between Azerbaijan and Ukraine that meet the interests of the peoples of both countries.

“The issue of territorial integrity and sovereignty in itself is not the only cornerstone of our rich partnership. Azerbaijan supports the best possible resolution to Ukraine based on the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Azerbaijan and Ukraine share the same or similar positions in the international arena, as well as on regional and global issues,” noted the Deputy Minister.

During the reception, the participants of the event were shown a video telling about the successes achieved by Azerbaijan recently.
